My Story

I was in 2nd grade at the time, and lived on the West coast. By the time I had woken up and was getting ready for school, the attacks had already happened. I remember my grandma wasn't answering and we were running late.
I went to the living room and sat on the corner of the couch and watched the news. I remember seeing the planes hitting the Twin Towers, seeing all the firemen and police officers, and then everyone running for safety as the towers collapsed.
All we did at school that day was watch the new. A couple kids had birthdays that day but nobody really celebrated due to the morning's events.
That was the day I knew I was joining the military. As soon as I turned 18, as a senior in high school, I was in the recruiting office. When I see documentaries about that day I can't prevent the tears I get: even to this day. I will never forget that day and all those who perished.
