Yozue Davila

My name is SGT Yozue Davila, a proud Puertorican who lives far away from his island out in Vernon, CT.

I am currently a bandsman in the 102d Army Band but also have a supporting role with the CTARNG 6th Recruiting and Retention BN and carry 12 years of National Guard Service. Last year August 2025 I set a goal of improving my fitness by getting out of my comfort zone, rucking was that challenge. Ironically, my very first ruck march in basic training caused stress fractures in my hip which lead me to recycle, but I progressed and today I have completed 10 rucking events. With that said, I advise all new ruckers to be smart, prepare for these events and get some miles in. Aside from fitness, I like the quiet time to analyze life and talk to God. My favorite ruck so far is the event I hosted for the 102d Army Band in November to complete the Czech Military Marche. The next ruck event I am hosting is for all soldiers of the CT ARNG with 25 participants for April. My go to set up is a standard ruck with good ol TA-50 gear in it. Funny enough, I use my basic training boots with some heavy mole skin for burns and blisters. A fun fact from me, I have a very supportive wife and 2 kids that keep my heart and hands full!
