Muhammad Aarib

Where are you from?

I am originally from Karachi, Pakistan, but currently residing in St. Louis, USA.

How did you get into rucking?

I got into rucking when I joined my military college, after which, further into my career and after coming to the United States, I found out about Rucking Tough and how I could do rucks and earn badges, which is why I started doing rucks in the USA too.

Why do you ruck?

There are multiple reasons I ruck: mental fitness and toughness, because a lot of times during a ruck you think about quitting, but you just have to keep going. Fitness too, but most importantly, it’s because I want to express the high regards and honor that I hold for the fallen. The recent rucks I did thanks to Rucking Tough were all to honor the courageous people who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Favorite ruck so far?

My favorite ruck has to be the Statehood one just because I was super hyped for it in general, and the foreign badge looks awesome.

What is the hardest lesson you've learned on a ruck?

The hardest lesson I’ve learned is to never give up because a lot of times people around you will give up and then enjoy themselves, but you should know the work you are putting in now is your enjoyment later.

What is your go-to ruck setup?

My go-to ruck setup is a weighted vest, a small Velcro attachment to carry stuff, CCD combat pants, black DMS shoes, a bottle of water, and some Jolly Ranchers for energy.

What is your advice for new ruckers?

My advice for someone who just got into rucking is that it is going to be difficult at the start, but trust me, the mental and physical reward is totally worth it. I’m just rucking to keep fit for my military career.

Fun fact about you outside of rucking:

One fun fact about me is that I love International Joint Training Exercises (JTX) and will travel a lot for those.
