Where are you from?
Deltona, Florida
Why do you ruck?
I ruck for keeping up my cardio health, weightloss for the "height and abdomen" checks. Low impact exercise, and generally always a good time, except in the Florida humidity and heat. July - August has been reaching 112° Heat index before noon.
How did you get into rucking?
I got into rucking from the Army, but peaked interest from seeing coworkers doing Goruck events. Getting more involved with my daughter and her girlscout trips.
Favorite ruck so far:
All the rucks have been fun, I enjoyed to GAFPB (gold) march. It was a beautiful cool day in Virgina. The Ruckingtough.com originals have been a great inspiration. The WWII D-Day challenge had great history and meaning.
What is the hardest lesson you've learned on a ruck?
My hardest lesson has been trying to understand my body and fueling needs.
What is your go-to ruck setup?
Pack, weight, footwear, gear, etc.
My setup is is a basic issue ruck, sleep system on the bottom and weight towards the top. Still playing around with different ideas. I need to get better boots, but I've been trying different socks, so far Creepers and Hollow have been the best setup, so far.
What is your advice for new ruckers?
My advise would be to try and see what works (weight placement, pre- and during hydration, and socks and boots) with you. Play with what works for you. Since getting more into rucking, the Facebook algorithm has shown me more and more reels of others setting up their gear. Try and see what's best for you.
What is the next event you are training for?
I'm building up to tackle a Norwegian Foot March and the Czech Death March (longer distances).
Fun fact about you outside of rucking:
I'm civilian 911 system Paramedic. I enjoy riding my motorcycle and doing girl scout events with my daughter.
