Ruck Hack: Retighten Your Pack After the First 10 Minutes
Share
One of the easiest ways to make your ruck more comfortable takes less than a minute.
As you begin your ruck, your pack naturally shifts and settles as the straps stretch, the load compresses, and your body finds its rhythm. After the first 10–15 minutes, take a quick pause and retighten your shoulder straps, waist belt (if you're using one), and load lifters.
That small adjustment can make a big difference. A properly tightened ruck keeps the weight close to your body, reduces unnecessary movement, minimizes shoulder fatigue, and helps prevent sore spots before they develop. It also improves your posture, making every mile that follows a little more efficient.
Don't think of it as stopping, think of it as resetting your equipment for the miles ahead. Thirty seconds of adjustment can save you hours of discomfort.
Stay rucking tough!
