My Story

Sept 11..I was in the Army somewhere around my 16-17th year of service. I remember coming out of the office I worked in and the office next door had a tv on....it was always on the news in this office because it was the "intel office".

The first plane had already hit, and as I stood there, I watched the second hit the second tower. It was at this time I knew years of training was about to be put to use. Preparation had begun...getting affairs in order, shots, briefings, will for the next of kin...inventories of equipment, new gear...everything you would expect in preparation to go to war.

Now we wait. We ride the roller coaster of when do we go...it's not IF...it's when.

My platoon eventually got attached to a unit and we deployed September of 2003 to Iraq. It was a long year, and I lost 3 of my brothers while there and another one years later from wounds suffered during an IED attack that took two others that day.

I will NEVER forget Sept 11th or the men and women that sacrificed their lives.
